During the Depression, the Murnane Companies, developed a special method of cutting square-edged, lint-free soap wraps for automatic wrapping machines. This technology was later applied to the confectionery industry and led to Joseph Murnane’s pioneering effort to supply wax coated chocolate board candy bar base cards for use on automatic wrapping machinery. An ongoing close connection between the confectionery industry and the Murnane Companies continues to this day.
